As usual I wait until the last minute to get ready for these big festivals. Trying to get my newsletter out on my website is always a challenge. It is not an easy program so I may have to look around this year for a better set up for my Website and newsletter. I am almost finished with the High Springs Canoe pic below. I have some very small works in process, too. Then of course there is my physical post cards that should be coming in the mail today. I hope to have them mailed out this weekend.
Recently I have been invited to participate in a new startup gallery in the town of Newberry. Located south of High Springs and west of Gainesville, this town is getting ready to explode with families attending future sporting events at their new baseball training complex and their archery facilities. They expect hundreds of people in the next 6 months.
Newberry's Main Street Program is working hard to establish a great little tourist stop for all those future visitors. They have renovated the old firehouse and are about to open the new Firehouse Art Gallery. I have one oil painting of the raccoons, "The Three Stooges" in the gallery, but have not put any more paintings there since they are all hanging at the High Spring Coop. I do have some new interesting pictures instead to put there that are a completely different medium I am experimenting with. I took many of my reference photos for my paintings, converted them into Black and White photographs, double matted and framed them. The ones I choose for the gallery are all local scenery from Alachua to Payne's Prairie and under $50. It will be interesting to see how they do. The show's reception with be this Friday evening, Feb. 18, 6-9pm. I will be there a little late but it will be fun and exciting to get in on the beginning stages of a new art location. Here are a few samples of the photos I am showing at the gallery. The originals do not have any dates on them.
