A Painting is never done and New piece in the works!

I haven't had too much time to dedicate to painting in the past couple of days, the Post Office has been exhausting. Then I am trying to get ready for our family trip to New York. For the first time after over 20 years of marriage my husband has agreed to travel to my birthplace! More on that later. I did manage to really look at some recent paintings and improve them some. I worked on my commission landscape of Vermont, "1881" , cleaned up alot of lines, improved dark values and highlights and made the background values not so symmetric.

I also improved the"Big Oak" painting. Cleaned up lines and values. Then my husband said the painting was boring so I added one of the many deer that roam our property. My husband has a deer feeder right where this oak tree is located and deer and turkey are always in our little nature cove on our place. It is a small painting but I think it tells a story now. Paintings are so much more interesting when they tell a story.

Below is my new pic of the road to my house. It is only half done and I plan on adding some deer to that one too. I drive home on this road that leads to our property every day and so often there are deer on the side of the road. They don't seem to be afraid of me until I get real close. They run when they see my husband. I told him they are very smart, they know I only shoot them with my camera and he shoots them to eat them. Ha! Ha! So they know I am harmless! I may not be able to talk again until after my NY trip. I will be back home in a week. I have off two whole weeks from the Postal Service I am soooo excited. I have ticket to my favorite movie, now a play on Broadway, West Side Story. We are also going river rafting in upstate NY with my cousin and I will get to see lots of my family at a co-ed baby shower for my cousin's new baby on the way. And have I added I am going to be a grandmother soon myself? My daughter is pregnant. Guess I need to brush up on my portrait skills since I will soon have my greatest subject around to paint! See you soon!!!
